"Bandit" (2bandit)

The ad sucks. The car is not a "bandit car," it was a factory white car. What did they do to the shaker scoop? It looks dreadful. Also, luggage rack? Really? The seller rates the body as a 9/10 and that is just wrong. There is rust peeking through, the car clearly hit a thing in the drivers side front, there is the wrong style bird (and a tacky non factory pinstripe). Also, a sunroof?! Why? The interior (also rated a 9/10) has bad seats, is miss matched colors, the console is meh, and there are speakers in the door panels (a big no no on these cars). !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
I'm calling CP, but would like to know what you think a car like this is worth. It's not that it is a bad car, I just feel like the seller doesn't know anything/thinks too highly of the quality of the car (I hope that doesn't sound dickish).

I'd give him a cool hundred if I were you for parts and such.

Why would you put a 77 front on a 76? That seems backwards to me. But if the floors and rockers are solid and the other notorious rust areas are good I don't think it's too far in to CP territory. Fixing that roof is not going to be easy, though, so I wouldn't pay more than $5-6k.

CP. Slushbox and poor taste.

Realistically, I can see him getting $3-4k for this, unless there's a horrid issue only noticeable when driving the thing.

Sadly most 2nd gens are slushboxes. Mine is, however I did research a 4-speed conversion but couldn't make it happen because the parts would exceed $2000 which I can't justify. I installed a 4-speed + overdrive auto trans from the 90s instead of the original 3 speed auto.

That's a stripe common to the base and Esprit cars. Like the Esprit I saw at Jefferson on Sunday:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
But it was never available on a Trans Am.
This car is hacked as shit.

Yeah, I see this selling for $5,000 but could go for much more if they corrected the faults and restored the thing to factory.

The '74 - '76 front ends are the ugliest noses put on a 2nd gen. I agree with your value point.

Woah wait. You could get a factory sun roof?

No, it means the half vinyl roof:

Now that is classy. I would totally rock a white vinyl top on a blue '71 or '72 Trans Am

After I posted I realized I was thinking of the 70-73 front end (which I love) and looked up the 76. Yeah, you're 100% correct. That was pretty bad.

The 70-73 cars are so incredibly classy. Want to see worse? 1974 Camaro

Oh my, yes. I have a 71 Camaro and I'm aware of the terrible things they did to it in the name of 5mph bumpers in 74. I love the 70-73 T/A front so much I've been tempted to put it on my Camaro. I won't do it, but it's tempting.

It's in pieces right now. I bought it as an $800 basket case and I'm still getting it fixed up. It did have an intact nose, though, and that alone was probably worth the purchase price. A few more things hooked up and I'll be ready to start it. You don't know how excited I am about that!

yuck, that pinstripe is awful. Makes me think of an AMC Gremlin (or maybe a Pacer)
